What are dental implants?
Dental implants are essentially titanium root replacements that are inserted into the bone where a tooth originally was. They perform the functions of dental roots and serve as the foundation for future prosthetic restorations. Implants are used to restore a single missing tooth, several teeth or in edentulous (toothless) patients. They become fully integrated into the surrounding bone and therefore function in the same manner as natural teeth. Moreover, they are completely indistinguishable from the adjacent teeth. The duration of implants is not limited by any barriers, but depends on the proper hygiene of patients. Using advanced bone and soft tissue restoration methods, we reconstruct the natural conditions even if the patient’s teeth were extracted many years before. The regeneration techniques at our centre are one of the numerous fundamental activities performed in implant treatment on a daily basis.
What is the course of the treatment?
Consultation appointment
Once we become familiar with the patient’s expectations, we create an individual treatment plan. It is based on detailed dental check-up and radiological diagnostics. We perform all the necessary tests- orthopantomographic and CT (3D photos). They provide us with information on the condition of the patient’s bones and make it possible to plan the implant treatment in a very precise manner.
Procedure
The standard implant insertion procedure involves minimal exposure of the bone before making a hole for an implant to be inserted. It takes a few months for the implant to fuse with the bone (lasts from 3 to 6 months depending on the implantation site). After this period, new teeth are cemented over the implants.
Effective methods of anaesthesia make the implant insertion procedure completely painless and potential post-operative complaints are effectively controlled by means of commonly available analgesics (pain relievers).
The final teeth are tailor-made porcelain products manufactured by technicians, which make it possible to fulfil all patient expectations concerning the shape, size and colour (degree of brightness). The new, beautiful and permanently fixed teeth allow patients to bite all types of food, thereby providing a feeling of extreme satisfaction.
